Immuta Presents on Managing Risk, AI, and the Future of Analytics at The Risk Institute 2017 Annual Conference

COLLEGE PARK, MD–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Immuta today announced details of its participation at The Risk Institute 2017 Annual Conference: The Digital Revolution and Risk Evolution, where CEO Matt Carroll will discuss the future of machine learning, AI and analytics, and how organizations can mitigate the risk introduced by an economy driven by algorithms.

Who: Matt Carroll, CEO, Immuta

What: Presentation on “Managing Algorithm Risk”

According to IDC, the widespread adoption of cognitive systems and AI across a broad range of industries will drive worldwide revenues from nearly $8 billion in 2016 to more than $47 billion in 2020. As organizations become more reliant on algorithms for decision making, they face a dramatically increased risk model – driven by algorithmic complexity, a lack of transparency around algorithmic design, inappropriate use of algorithms, and weak governance. For these reasons and more, algorithms are subject to increased risk, such as undetected biases in decision making, computational errors, or the potential for malicious acts.

In this session, Matt will discuss how an economy driven by algorithms can introduce trust and understanding into the process of machine learning and AI decision-making.

When and Where: Thursday, September 28, 2017 from 9:30 a.m. – 10:30 a.m. ET.

The Fawcett Center
The Ohio State University
2400 Olentangy River Road
Columbus, OH

Immuta also recently hosted an expert discussion, along with the Information Society Project at Yale Law School, to explore the intersection between machine learning, law, and regulation. The panel featured top academics, lawyers, and data scientists exploring a basic framework for how governments, tech companies, and society can think about governing machine learning.
