Immuta Announces 100% Customer Growth as Organizations Invest in Modern Data Access Control and Security

Immuta, the leader in universal cloud data access control, today announced record mid-year growth, more than doubling its customer base and number of employees year-over-year. In May, Immuta announced a $90 million round of Series D funding that the company is using to expand sales and marketing capacity, accelerate product research and development, and expand into EMEA and APAC. One-third of Immuta’s new customers in the first half of the year came from outside the U.S.

“Our first-half growth shows that more and more organizations around the world are looking for solutions to help scale cloud analytics and data science initiatives,” said Matt Carroll, Immuta’s CEO.

“Five years ago, data teams were siloed and focused on helping users find and query more data. But today, data consumers exist across organizations and are going much further — transforming data, collaborating with cross-company teams, and creating new data products, models, and pipelines at a rapid pace. This new era of democratized data use is driving unprecedented adoption of cloud platforms and data exchanges, but has also exposed significant inefficiencies and security gaps in their data supply chain. Universal data access control – which automates secure cloud data access at a fraction of the cost and time of other approaches – has become one of the most critical components of the modern data stack,” added Carroll.

Immuta’s customers include large enterprises that need universal access controls for heterogeneous cloud data platforms, as well as high-growth software companies that run their businesses on modern cloud data platforms and must maintain strong data security. The company expanded its market share across industries including global financial services, insurance, healthcare, technology, manufacturing, transportation, and government.

Recent customer successes include:

  • A top U.S. bank used Immuta to decrease its data science teams’ costs by $30M while doubling productivity.
A leading global bank accelerated its transition to the cloud, saving more than $200M in resources and decreasing reliance on legacy data warehousing.
  • A top U.S. streaming service used Immuta to reach millions of subscribers three years ahead of schedule by streamlining its user analytics while ensuring data privacy.
  • A major transportation company used Immuta to implement a multi-cloud architecture, enabling a safe migration across clouds that helped save $12M per year.
  • A major U.S. national security customer used Immuta’s fine-grained masking and redaction capabilities to scale data sharing across departments and agencies.
  • The U.S. Air Force will be using Immuta to scale data sharing and automate sensitive data discovery across multiple authorities and purposes.

Billie, a fast growing fin-tech organization based in Berlin that is reinventing how small-and-medium-sized businesses (SMBs) handle invoices, adopted Immuta’s new SaaS offering to rapidly automate data access control and data protection. According to Igor Chtivelband, Billie’s co-founder and VP of data and CRM, “If we didn’t have Immuta, then Billie’s expansion as a business wouldn’t be possible. I’m not sure how we could do it without Immuta.”

Immuta also deepened its strategic partnerships and product integrations with modern data technology providers including Databricks, Snowflake, Microsoft Azure Synapse, Amazon Redshift, Google BigQuery, and Starburst. Immuta became the first data access control solution for Snowflake Partner Connect, recently achieved Premier Partner Status with Snowflake, and announced support for Databricks Delta Sharing.

Immuta’s success comes from its innovative approach to cloud data access control and ability to help customers address their most prominent data challenges. A recent GigaOm report found that Immuta’s attribute-based access controls require 75x fewer policy changes and offer significant cost savings compared to competitive solutions.

Further, Immuta’s market opportunity continues to grow. This is underscored by the recent 451 Research survey finding that 90% of organizations lack an optimized DataOps strategy, and view data security and privacy as top challenges in the data supply chain.
