Reflecting on a Successful First Year with Databricks

One year ago, Immuta and Databricks announced an expanded partnership with a promise to empower data teams to perform analytics on sensitive data in the cloud in a compliant, policy-driven and automated way. In June we announced Immuta for Databricks, a native offering for Databricks customers that unlocks new data science opportunities and outcomes. Looking back at all that we’ve accomplished together over the past year, it’s hard not to be proud of everything our product, go-to-market and customer teams have achieved.

One year into this strategic partnership, we are seeing the fruits of our labor and attracting dozens of global, data-driven organizations who want to maximize the value of their data with Databricks while automating data security and privacy with Immuta. Recent joint customers include:

  • A top five global video streaming service
  • A top three global automotive manufacturer
  • A global payments company
  • One of world’s largest toy manufacturers
  • Several large US technology companies
  • One of the five largest transportation and logistics companies
  • Several of the world’s largest global analytics companies

These organizations trust Immuta and Databricks to unlock the value of analytics and data science at scale while ensuring world-class data access governance to maximize data sharing, utility and compliance.

Capping off an incredibly successful year, we’re thrilled to announce today that Immuta has been named Databricks’ ISV Rising Star Award winner. We’re honored that Databricks shares our pride in this partnership and the real business value that our joint solution provides.

“Immuta has been a strategic partner to Databricks, helping our customers extract maximum value from their data – even the most sensitive – by automating security, access control and governance,” said Michael Hoff, SVP of Business Development at Databricks. “With Immuta’s expanded support for R and Scala languages, and our introduction of SQL Analytics for BI use cases, we can deliver analytics and governance solutions to more customers across EMEA and North America.”

While we won’t be able to celebrate in-person with our friends at Databricks, we’ll share a virtual toast during their European Data + AI Summit this week. If you’re attending the summit and are interested in learning more about how Databricks and Immuta work together, we encourage you to check out our exclusive session, “Migrate and Modernize Hadoop-Based Security Policies for Databricks,” taking place Wednesday, November 18 at 3:45pm GMT (11:45am EST). During the three-day event, representatives from Immuta will be stationed at our virtual booth showing periodic demos, chatting 1:1 with visitors and giving away exclusive content. We hope you can join us virtually!

So what comes next? We’re not stopping here. In collaboration with Databricks, we’re continuing to innovate and add new features to our joint solution to address a range of customer needs. Today we announced new capabilities to enable fine-grained access controls access controls across R and Scala. Now, Immuta supports more languages and cluster types for customers in Databricks environments while protecting against destructive DDL commands (like DROP) on tables.
