Automating Data Access Decisions with Immuta AI and Model Context Protocol (MCP)

In this quick update, Immuta Co-founder and CTO Steve Touw explains how Immuta AI makes data governance and access provisioning conversational – and easy.

Instead of navigating through a complex user interface, data stewards and consumers can now interact with Immuta using natural language, asking questions like:

  • “Show me all my pending requests”
  • “Which ones are high risk?”
  • “How long does approval usually take?”

This is possible via exposure through a Model Context Protocol (MCP) server, which makes Immuta open to conversational interaction via API. It’s designed to feel like you’re simply chatting about what you want to do – and making it happen. Soon, you’ll be able to do just that within tools like Microsoft Teams and Slack.

What you can expect:

  • Faster request and approval workflows
  • Less reliance on rigid UI paths
  • More flexibility and automation
  • Intuitive, AI-driven governance experiences
