Data teams are under pressure to deliver governed access faster than ever, but manual onboarding and platform-by-platform configuration slow everything down. Governance leaders are expected to keep pace with exploding data demand from human users and AI agents. Yet, the process of simply connecting new environments remains one of the biggest bottlenecks. We’re solving this challenge with an update that streamlines how organizations integrate data platforms into Immuta so they can scale policy-driven provisioning, eliminate manual setup, and give data teams instant, compliant access as their data environment grows.
In the Immuta platform, an Immuta Connection is how you bring metadata from your underlying platforms into Immuta so it can be governed, protected, and provisioned for access. A Connection links Immuta to systems like Snowflake, Databricks, Starburst, relational databases, catalogs, and future analytics or application environments. Once connected, Immuta automatically discovers the hierarchy of objects in that system, including accounts, databases, schemas, and tables, and continuously keeps them in sync as your data platform evolves.
This design makes Connections the foundation of how Immuta scales across growing data estates. Instead of manually onboarding individual schemas or tables, a Connection let’s administrators register metadata from entire environments at once (within provided scopes). Immuta then monitors for metadata evolving, applies the appropriate governance policies, and enables provisioning workflows such as access requests. As organizations expand their data footprint across more warehouses, databases, lakehouses, and BI tools, Connections become the central mechanism that helps Immuta unify governance and access controls across all of it.
Looking ahead, expanding our connector ecosystem remains one of Immuta’s key strategic priorities. Customers want Immuta to meet their data metadata wherever it lives and provide a consistent path for securing and provisioning that data across platforms. To support this growth, we needed to simplify how administrators add, configure, and manage Connections. The redesigned Connections UI is the first major step in that direction. It brings clarity, simplicity, and scalability to the experience and ensures it can support a broader and rapidly growing set of data systems.
Key benefits of the new UI
With the new Connections experience, administrators get a clearer, more unified way to manage how metadata enters Immuta. These updates focus on reducing friction, improving visibility, and making it easier to keep governance and provisioning consistent at scale.
- Clearer visibility with new Connection State and Policy Sync State indicators that help administrators quickly identify what is healthy, what is syncing, and what needs attention.
- Centralized workflow that brings activation, auditing, scheduling, policy sync, and permissions together in one unified interface.
- Smarter policy sync controls with clear inheritance paths, parent and override modes, and an easy way to propagate changes across entire hierarchies.
- Dedicated object-level Connection pages that make understanding individual databases, schemas, and tables much more intuitive.
- Powerful bulk actions that allow teams to configure or update many objects at once with preview and validation.
A closer look at the new Immuta Connections experience
The redesigned experience improves every step of administering a Connection. Instead of navigating multiple screens to manage activation, audit behaviors, or policy sync, administrators now have a centralized and consistent Settings page for each connection. This reduces friction and creates a predictable way to manage even the largest data environments. The new Connection State and Policy Sync State columns provide immediate insight into overall health, allowing teams to spot issues, confirm behaviors, and troubleshoot faster than before.
More Transparent Policy Sync: Policy sync management is now significantly more transparent. Each level in the object hierarchy clearly shows whether it is inheriting its configuration from a parent, explicitly enabled or disabled, or running with custom settings. Visual inheritance paths make it easier to understand where overrides exist and prevent accidental misconfigurations. When administrators need to enforce consistency, they can push changes across entire environments using apply to all children, ensuring policy alignment at scale.
Improved Object-Level Management: We also enhanced the clarity and usability of object-level management. Dedicated Connection pages for databases, schemas, and tables make it easier to understand connection-specific settings and how they relate to the broader data environment. Navigating between objects is now more intuitive, which reduces confusion and helps administrators maintain a clean and structured governance model. For organizations managing thousands of objects, enhanced bulk actions provide a significant efficiency boost. Administrators can run object syncs, update policy sync configurations, or make changes across multiple objects at once with a preview table that shows exactly what will be updated before anything is applied.
Supporting Immuta’s broader vision
Together, these enhancements support a broader vision for how Immuta enables metadata onboarding and provisioning at scale. As we expand the number of systems Immuta connects to, customers need a simple and scalable experience that can grow with their data landscape. The simplified Connections UI provides that foundation. By improving how administrators add and manage connections, we are making it easier to unify governance across diverse data platforms and preparing Immuta for the next generation of connectors and provisioning capabilities.
This update strengthens how customers work with Immuta today and also positions the platform for what’s next. As more enterprise systems join Immuta’s provisioning ecosystem, the new Connections experience ensures administrators have the intuitive, scalable tools to manage their expanding data ecosystem with confidence.
