Improved Orchestration and Deepened Collaboration from Immuta’s Latest Release

Immuta’s latest release is here, and we are excited to share the new orchestration and collaborative integration features we’ve been working on.

  • Orchestrated Data Policy Merging – allows collaboration between data policy authors to share data control responsibilities on the same data set.
  • Snowflake PrivateLink DR Support – supports customers leveraging Snowflake failover in PrivateLink.
  • Databricks Unity Catalog Multi-Catalog Support – handles multiple catalogs within a single Unity Catalog metastore.
  • SaaS Support for Native Snowflake Data Discovery – performs sensitive data discovery scanning in the customer’s cloud data platform without transferring data back to Immuta.

Let’s explore these features in detail.

Orchestrated Data Policy Merging (Private Preview)

In today’s environment, data collaboration is complex, so is securing them. In distributed data mesh environments, data can be processed and combined. One data set can fall under the policy scope of multiple data stewards. Immuta accelerates secure data collaboration by supporting policy orchestration that remains compatible with different data policies.

Immuta previously released subscription policy merging to orchestrate subscription policy collaboration. We are now enabling customers to achieve the same with data policies. With orchestrated data masking policy merging, multiple policy authors can collaborate to define a cohesive policy set to share data control responsibilities on the same data set.

The diagram below shows an example scenario of how multiple policies can be merged on the same data set columns using data policy orchestration for effective data sharing.

Snowflake PrivateLink DR Support (Private Preview)

As we start to see more customers leverage Snowflake failover in PrivateLink, customers using Immuta will experience seamless support. They can expect the data source connections to automatically redirect and reestablish to the necessary Snowflake instance in the event of a data recovery (DR) event.

This feature demonstrates Immuta’s continued deep partnership with Snowflake.

Databricks Unity Catalog Multi-Catalog Support (Private Preview)

As more Databricks customers migrate to Unity Catalog, Databricks has introduced a three-tier namespace to support multi-catalog.

With this release, Immuta can properly handle multiple catalogs within a single Unity Catalog metastore leveraging the new three-tier namespace, which simplifies querying data from a single metastore. This allows Immuta to fully support all of the features of Unity Catalog while also maintaining Immuta functionality and benefits.

Immuta SaaS Support for Native Snowflake Data Discovery (Private Preview)

Understanding what data you have and where it lives is fundamental to ensuring data is secure and protected. Immuta has expanded its sensitive data discovery (SDD) capabilities for Snowflake users by performing SDD scanning in Snowflake without transferring data back to Immuta.

This helps overcome current SDD limitations, including data localization, memory-unbounded runs, and inefficient querying methods. As a result of this collective approach, Snowflake users can reduce data transfer costs and avoid unnecessary network requests.
